Maarten Wetselaar, CEO of the Spanish energy company Moeve, stated at the "European Pulse Forum" held in Barcelona that Europe should not forget the urgency of ensuring energy supply due to the recent tensions in the Iran war and the blockade in the Strait of Hormuz. Moeve, formerly known as Cepsa and owned by the UAE investment company Mubadala and the American private equity firm Carlyle, has started construction of the Andalusia Green Hydrogen Valley project in southern Spain. However, Wetselaar emphasized that Europe needs a hydrogen pipeline connecting southern Spain to Germany.
