With the international energy supply being impacted, international energy prices are continuously fluctuating. The UK has always had a strong dependency on natural gas in its energy structure, and its capacity for natural gas reserves is relatively limited, further magnifying the impact of external shocks. Currently, the UK government is trying to accelerate the pace of energy transition to reduce reliance on fossil fuels. The UK Energy Minister stated that conflicts in the Middle East highlight the importance of promoting clean energy development for UK energy security, which can help the UK break free from the constraints of the fossil fuel market. A new regulation recently implemented in the UK requires all newly built homes in England to install heat pumps and solar panels. Many residential areas have already considered this during construction, replacing traditional gas heating with heat pumps and integrating rooftop solar energy systems to not only reduce residents' energy expenses but also help alleviate the national electricity pressure. However, this regulation will not come into effect until 2028.
