The semiconductor industry chain is facing another blow: some manufacturers announced that the price of engineering plastics will increase.
Due to the ongoing US-Iran conflict and the rise in crude oil prices, South Korean KCC and Japanese Mitsubishi Chemical have recently notified South Korean semiconductor equipment companies of an increase in the prices of engineering plastics. Plastics used for equipment and related components account for 10% to 20% of production costs. Depending on the product, the price increase this time ranges from 5% to 20%. It is reported that engineering plastics are derived from the refining process of crude oil, have heat resistance and impact resistance, and are mainly used for precision processing in semiconductor processes.
