Michael O'Leary, CEO of Europe's largest low-cost airline, Ryanair of Ireland, said on April 1 that if the transportation through the Strait of Hormuz continues to be blocked, the airline may face a fuel shortage of up to 25% in May and June, and there could be a tight supply of aviation fuel in Europe in May. O'Leary told Sky News on the same day that optimistically, if the Middle East conflict ends and the Strait of Hormuz reopens for navigation in mid to late April, there will be no problem with aviation fuel supply; but if the conflict continues and the strait remains closed, Ryanair may face a risk of aviation fuel shortage of about 10% to 25% in May and June, and the supply of aviation fuel in Europe as a whole will be tight in May.
