"Honghuang 70" achieves steady-state operation in milliseconds, accelerating the commercialization process of nuclear fusion in China.
According to the Liberation Daily, it was learned from the Lingang new area that recently, Shanghai Fusion Energy Commercial Company's self-developed global first fully high-temperature superconducting tokamak device - "Honghuang 70", successfully achieved 1337 seconds steady-state long-pulse plasma operation, becoming the only commercial fusion company in the world to achieve long-pulse operation at the thousand-second level, far surpassing the previous commercial company's limit of operation at the hundred-second level. This breakthrough not only demonstrates the engineering feasibility and stability of the high-temperature superconducting technology route in fusion devices, but also presses the "acceleration key" for the commercialization of fusion energy, indicating that Shanghai's early layout of the future energy industry is one step closer to certainty.
