Organization: Rising oil prices may put cost pressure on display optical thin films.
Technology research and consulting firm Omdia published an article stating that optical films used for displays are highly dependent on petrochemical-based polymers, such as PET, PMMA, COP, and PC. These materials are primarily derived from petroleum and extracted through the petrochemical refining process. The escalation of the Iran conflict has increased the risk of the Middle East energy supply chain, driving up crude oil prices and potentially putting cost pressures on the entire petrochemical value chain. Since petrochemical materials account for a significant proportion of the manufacturing cost of optical films, if oil prices continue to rise in the long term, it may eventually lead to higher production costs for display panels.
