A cargo ship flying the flag of Thailand was attacked by Iranian projectiles earlier this month and drifted for several weeks before running aground in the Strait of Hormuz, currently efforts are underway to find three missing crew members. Khalid M. Hashim, the general manager of the ship's owner Precious Shipping Pcl, said in an email on Friday that the Mayuree Naree is currently "stranded on an island off Iran." According to Iran's state-owned television channel Press TV, the ship ran aground off the coast of Qeshm Island. Thai Foreign Ministry spokesman Panidone Pachimsawat said on Friday that an Oman-Iran rescue team has arrived at the ship and is searching for the missing crew members. The situation of the crew members is currently unclear. The ship was attacked while crossing the Strait of Hormuz on March 11, with another 20 crew members able to evacuate.
