On March 26th, Feng Fei, the Secretary of the Hainan Provincial Party Committee, met with Singaporean Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat and his delegation who came to attend the 2026 Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference in Boao. Heng Swee Keat thanked Hainan for the warm reception during the forum. He said that Hainan's Free Trade Port officially started island-wide customs operations on December 18th last year, allowing Singapore to see the enormous development potential of Hainan and providing new opportunities and vast space for deepening cooperation between the two sides. Currently, bilateral exchanges between China and Singapore are becoming increasingly close, with continuous improvement in maritime routes between the two places, frequent exchanges of personnel and economic and trade interactions, and expanding cooperation areas. Singapore and Hainan are both Free Trade Ports, committed to expanding their openness to the outside world and promoting regional development. Strengthening cooperation between the two sides has a solid foundation and broad prospects. In recent years, mainland Chinese companies have chosen to invest internationally, trade, and establish business headquarters in Singapore and Hainan, fully demonstrating the strong attraction and cooperation potential of the two Free Trade Ports for companies. Singapore is willing to deepen practical cooperation with Hainan in the fields of digital economy, port shipping, clean energy, and further strengthen cultural exchanges to jointly contribute more to upholding the global free trade system.
