Currently, the security risks in the eastern region of the Democratic Republic of Congo continue to rise. Anti-government armed activities are frequent, social order is unstable for a long time, and the regional security situation is further deteriorating. Since early March 2026, the extremist organization "Alliance of Democratic Forces" has been launching attacks on multiple mining areas and logistics points in the Manbasa area of Ituri province. On the nights of March 11th and 12th, ADF attacked two mining sites in the Manbasa area of Ituri province, Muachacha and Mamuwu, resulting in at least 17 deaths, hundreds of civilians abducted, and a large number of houses and vehicles burned down. On March 16th, ADF attacked the village of Babezua in the Manbasa area, resulting in at least 19 deaths and multiple houses being burned down. On the morning of the 17th, the group attacked the local village of Bukurani again and took hostages, causing local schools to close and economic activities to come to a halt. Currently, the ADF's activities in the Manbasa area continue to expand. In addition, the security situation in the Masixi area of North Kivu province, the Ruchuru area, the Walikale area, and the Uwira area of South Kivu province remains complex and tense. Against this background, the risks of civilians being accidentally injured, abducted, or taken hostage have significantly increased. At the same time, local communication, transportation, and medical infrastructure are weak, leading to tight supplies of daily necessities and making it difficult for emergency evacuation. Once a sudden incident occurs, it is often difficult to obtain timely and effective assistance and secure transfer. The Chinese Embassy in the Democratic Republic of Congo reminds Chinese citizens not to travel to the eastern provinces of Ituri, North Kivu, South Kivu, and Upper Wal, and not to cross the border to these areas from countries such as Rwanda, Uganda, Burundi, Tanzania, Zambia, and the Central African Republic. Chinese citizens and enterprises still in the eastern region of Congo should evacuate as soon as possible. Chinese citizens and enterprises engaged in mining activities in Congo need to register with the relevant government departments, provide documents such as a certificate of no criminal record and tax payment, obtain exploration and mining permits in accordance with the law before mining, strictly comply with local tax, labor, and environmental protection requirements, and are prohibited from engaging in illegal mining.
