Affected by the situation in the Middle East, Germany's economic sentiment index in March has plummeted sharply.
The European Economic Research Center in Germany announced on March 17 that, due to conflicts in the Middle East and rising energy prices, the economic sentiment index in Germany plummeted in March. The economic sentiment index was 58.3 in February, but in March, this index dropped sharply to -0.5. The data also showed that in March, almost all industries in Germany did not show signs of improvement, with energy-intensive industries such as chemicals and pharmaceuticals being particularly hard hit. Achim Wambach, the chairman of the European Economic Research Center, stated that the escalation of tensions in the Middle East led to a significant increase in energy prices, continuously adding to inflationary pressures, which increases the risk of obstructing Germany's economic recovery.
