On the morning of March 18, the Taiwan Affairs Office held a routine press conference in the press hall, and spokesperson Chen Binhua answered questions from reporters on recent cross-strait hot issues. A reporter asked: The 14th National People's Congress approved the "Fifteenth Five-Year Plan" outline at its fourth session, how do you interpret the special chapter related to Taiwan in the outline? How will the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council implement it? Chen Binhua, the spokesperson of the Taiwan Affairs Office, introduced that on March 12, the 14th National People's Congress voted to pass the outline of the "Fifteenth Five-Year Plan" for national economic and social development. The outline makes top-level design and strategic planning for Taiwan-related work during the "Fifteenth Five-Year Plan" period, clarifying the goal of promoting peaceful development of cross-strait relations and advancing the cause of national reunification in the process of comprehensively building a socialist modern country. The outline explicitly states that it is necessary to thoroughly implement the overall strategy of the Party for solving the Taiwan issue in the new era, adhere to the one-China principle and the "1992 Consensus," resolutely crack down on "Taiwan independence" separatist forces, oppose external interference, maintain peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait, firmly grasp the initiative and dominant role in cross-strait relations, enhance the well-being of compatriots on both sides of the strait, and steadfastly safeguard the common homeland of the Chinese nation.
