National Energy Administration: From January to February 2026, the total electricity consumption of the whole society increased by 6.1% compared to the same period last year.

The National Energy Administration released data on electricity consumption for January and February. In the first two months, the total electricity consumption in society reached 1.6546 trillion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 6.1% year-on-year. Looking at electricity consumption by industry, the electricity consumption in the primary industry was 22.3 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 7.4%. The electricity consumption in the secondary industry was 1.0279 trillion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 6.3%, with industrial electricity consumption increasing by 6.4% and electricity consumption in high-tech and equipment manufacturing industries increasing by 10.6%. The electricity consumption in the tertiary industry was 323.1 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 8.3%, with the electricity consumption growth rates in the charging and swapping service industry and the internet data service industry reaching 55.1% and 46.2% respectively. The electricity consumption for urban and rural residents' daily life was 281.3 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 2.7% year-on-year.
