On the morning of March 4th, Xia Baolong, Director of the Central Office for Hong Kong and Macao Affairs and Director of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, met with the Chief Executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region, Ho Iat Seng, who attended the opening session of the Fourth Session of the Fourteenth National People's Congress in Beijing. Xia Baolong stated that Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng, leading the Special Administrative Region governance team, resolutely implements President Xi Jinping's important speeches and central decision-making arrangements on Hong Kong and Macao work, vigorously promotes reform and innovation, firmly safeguards national security, promotes public administrative reform, actively participates in the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and achieves new progress in various undertakings of the SAR. In December last year, President Xi Jinping emphasized during the Chief Executive's accountability report that Macao should actively align with the national "Fourteenth Five-Year Plan". The Fourth Session of the Fourteenth National People's Congress is about to review the draft outline of the "Fourteenth Five-Year Plan". It is believed that the SAR government and all sectors of society will seize the opportunity, focus on the overall national development, base themselves on the reality of Macao, formulate a good "Three-Five" plan for Macao, adhere to and improve administrative leadership, continuously enhance governance efficiency under the rule of law, and actively promote moderate and diversified economic development, especially the construction of the Hengqin Guangdong-Macao Deep Cooperation Zone, continuously demonstrate the role of Macao as "One Center, One Platform, One Base", and achieve better development in integrating into and serving the overall national development.
