Lenovo issued a price increase letter, with some computers increasing by over a thousand yuan.
In early 2026, a price hike storm driven by upstream core components is sweeping through the entire consumer electronics market. Data released by the Price Monitoring Center of the National Development and Reform Commission on February 28th shows that as of January 2026, the prices of the two main global storage chip products, DRAM and NAND flash memory, have hit their highest levels since data has been recorded in 2016. Taking the mainstream model DDR4 8Gb chip as an example, some models have seen their spot prices soar from a low point of $3.2 in 2025 to $15, with a cumulative increase of up to 369%. Against this backdrop, journalists have learned exclusively from informed sources that "Lenovo has issued a price adjustment letter to its channel partners, deciding to raise prices on some of its computer products." According to the source, the signal for this price hike had already emerged online earlier. "Online adjustments have been made since before March, either with direct price increases or the withdrawal of previous discounts." He said that the price adjustment letter issued this time mainly targets some offline stores, "we have received the new price lists. Compared to last year, the retail prices of some computer models have increased by more than 1000 yuan." However, he added, the purchase subsidies for students are still in effect, so the purchase prices for students have not yet been affected by the current price hike trend.
