The Beijing traffic management department stated that this year, in response to the prominent issues of non-motorized vehicle traffic accidents, they will seize the favorable opportunity of the new revised "Beijing Non-Motorized Vehicle Management Regulations" coming into effect on May 1st. They will make the crackdown on non-motorized vehicle violations a key focus throughout the year, focusing on the management of traffic order at intersections throughout the city. They will work together with departments such as transportation, city management, market supervision, the Capital Spiritual Civilization Office, and local governments to comprehensively implement a combination of "persuasion, management, and punishment," targeting specific non-motorized vehicle enforcement actions. For violations such as electric bicycles running red lights, the traffic management department will increase on-site enforcement efforts, deploying police forces during peak hours in commercial areas, schools, hospitals, around subway stations, and at accident-prone intersections. They will crack down on violations such as running red lights, wrong-way riding, and illegal parking, to create a strong deterrent. Simultaneously, they will actively promote non on-site enforcement measures for electric bicycles and continue to carry out the theme of "Five Don'ts, Always Stay Safe" educational activities, continuously improve the safety awareness and civilized consciousness of non-motorized vehicle drivers, firmly curb disorderly behavior and high accident trends related to electric bicycle traffic, and effectively ensure the safety of citizens' travel.
