RMB options betting is heating up, traders expect it to rise by 5% by the end of the year.

The trading of foreign exchange options betting on the strengthening of the renminbi has heated up, with traders positioning for the possibility of the renminbi rising to 6.50 against the US dollar by the end of this year. Trading volume of US dollar against renminbi options surged on Thursday, reaching the highest level since at least November 2024 when Donald Trump was re-elected as US president, with positions clearly biased towards expectations of renminbi strength, including bets of around 5%. According to data from the US Depository Trust and Clearing Corporation, trading volume of put options on the US dollar against the renminbi has reached or exceeded $100 million, twice the volume of call options on this currency pair.
