Guangzhou Baiyun Airport welcomes the Chinese New Year with over 5 million passengers, breaking the record for the highest number of passengers during the Spring Festival travel rush in the country.

On February 22nd, it was learned from Baiyun Airport that on the 20th day of the 2026 Spring Festival travel rush, Baiyun Airport handled 1676 flights, served 277,600 passengers, and transported 4154.14 tons of goods and mail in a single day, with year-on-year increases of 7.37%, 9.12%, and 9.1% respectively compared to the previous year's Spring Festival. Among them, the passenger throughput set a new record for the highest daily passenger flow in the history of the Spring Festival. Since the start of the Spring Festival on February 2nd, Baiyun Airport has transported a total of 5.2785 million passengers, becoming the first airport in the country to exceed 5 million passenger flows during the Spring Festival, ushering in a "red envelope" for the new year. During this year's Spring Festival travel rush, the passenger flow at Baiyun Airport has remained at a high level, with over 260,000 passengers per day for 11 consecutive days from February 5th to the 15th, and over 270,000 passengers per day for three consecutive days from February 11th to the 13th; the post-holiday return peak has reached new highs, with 275,500 passengers on February 20th and 277,600 passengers on February 21st, setting consecutive records for daily passenger flow during the Spring Festival. As the Spring Festival holiday comes to an end, it is expected that the 6th and 7th days of the Lunar New Year will see another peak in return trips, with passenger flow remaining high.
