New national standard proposes to increase relevant requirements for automotive physical control components, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology solicits public opinions.
The Equipment Industry Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology organized the National Automotive Standardization Technical Committee to carry out the revision of the mandatory national standard for "Signs of Automotive Control Devices, Indicators, and Signal Devices". A draft for soliciting opinions has been formed and will be open for public consultation in the near future. The document specifies that physical control devices should be equipped for functions such as turning signal lights on/off, raising/lowering car windows, and activating the combination driving assistance system. It is reported that this document will replace GB 4094-2016 "Symbols of Automotive Control Devices, Indicators, and Signal Devices". This revision adds new types and technical requirements for physical control devices, aiming to enhance driving safety and ensure that key control devices are accessible, usable, and operable with minimal visual reliance, allowing drivers to perceive the results of operating the devices without overly relying on sight, reducing distractions caused by displays, and further ensuring the reliability and effectiveness of control devices. The revised document also involves modifications and additions including: changing the applicable scope of the standard, deleting descriptions that are not applicable to electric vehicles, adding requirements for symbol display hierarchy and visibility, and adding a symbol for the power battery fault signal device.
