On February 11th, it was learned from Cathay Pacific that special transportation arrangements account for about 25%-33% of the total cargo volume of Cathay Pacific, including medical cold chain transport, live animal transport, lithium battery transport, and high-tech equipment transport. Xie Wensi, the General Manager of Cathay Pacific Cargo Business, stated that by 2025, the volume of live animal cargo transportation by Cathay Pacific will increase by 4.3%, with the majority being related to the transportation demand for horse racing events with the Hong Kong Jockey Club and international equestrian competitions. Currently, Cathay Pacific Cargo operates 20 Boeing 747 freighters, including 6 747-400ERF and 14 747-8F freighters, providing cargo services to over 40 destinations worldwide. Xie Wensi told reporters that Cathay Pacific Cargo has ordered 6 new generation Airbus A350-F freighters, which will begin to be delivered in 2028. He pointed out that technology is an important topic in cargo transportation. Stories in the technology field such as server racks, semiconductors, and microchips not only affect stock market performance but also impact related goods transportation.
