According to two informed sources, the global shortage of storage chips triggered by the artificial intelligence boom continues to worsen. As a result, NVIDIA will not be releasing any new graphics chips for gamers this year. This will be the first time in thirty years that NVIDIA has not launched a new gaming graphics processor. One of the sources mentioned that due to the shortage of storage chips, NVIDIA is also drastically reducing the production of the current generation of gaming chips the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50 series graphics cards. Over the past year, due to the shortage in supply, the prices of new NVIDIA gaming graphics cards have increased in major retail stores and e-commerce platforms. A NVIDIA spokesperson stated in a press release, "The demand for GeForce RTX series graphics cards from gamers is still high, but there are limitations on the supply of storage chips." The spokesperson did not comment on the delay in chip releases, but added that NVIDIA is still delivering all GeForce series products and is closely collaborating with suppliers to maximize the supply of storage chips.
