In 2025, the production of electric cars in Germany reached a record high.
The German Association of the Automotive Industry released a report on the 4th, showing that by 2025, a total of 1.67 million electric vehicles will be produced domestically in Germany, an increase of 23% from the previous year, reaching a historic high. The report indicates that in 2025, out of the electric vehicles produced in Germany, 1.22 million will be pure electric vehicles and 450,000 will be plug-in hybrid vehicles. Despite the accelerated transition to electrification, the total production of vehicles in Germany in 2025 is still relatively low compared to levels since 2019, at 4.15 million vehicles.
Hildegard Mller, the Chairman of the German Association of the Automotive Industry, stated that by 2025, the share of electric vehicle production in the total vehicle production in Germany will reach approximately 40%, indicating that Germany is continuing to advance its electrification transformation. The association predicts that by 2026, the production of electric vehicles in Germany will further increase to 1.76 million vehicles.
Furthermore, data from the German Federal Motor Transport Authority shows that by 2025, electric vehicles will account for approximately 30% of new registered vehicles in Germany, with registrations increasing by nearly half from the previous year, with Chinese brands experiencing particularly rapid growth.
