State-owned enterprise independently developed oil and gas equipment in Uganda sets a new record for drilling depth.
On February 1st, it was learned from CNOOC Uganda Company, a subsidiary of China National Offshore Oil Corporation, that the "Xuanji" geological trajectory rotary steering drilling system independently developed by CNOOC Limited recently drilled to a depth of 6185 meters in the Cui Niao oilfield in Uganda, setting a new record for the deepest operation of the system. This also broke Uganda's historical record for the deepest well, marking a new breakthrough for China's independent high-end drilling technology in complex working conditions. According to the project team of CNOOC Uganda Cui Niao oilfield, since the system was put into operation in Uganda in January 2023, the "Xuanji" system has been continuously used in Uganda for 3 years, completing full-size operations on 18 wells, including 6 wells with large displacements. As of now, the "Xuanji" system has accumulated more than 65,000 meters of drilling in Uganda; the cumulative operating time exceeds 7000 hours, equivalent to continuous operation for 291 days, proving the reliability and engineering adaptability of the system.
