The Spring Festival travel rush in 2026 will begin on February 2nd and end on March 13th, lasting a total of 40 days. According to the Guangdong Provincial Department of Transportation, this year's Spring Festival coincides with a 9-day extended holiday, resulting in a strong desire for travel among the public. There is a high demand for both passenger and freight transportation, with an estimated 11.59 billion people expected to travel across regions in Guangdong during the 2026 Spring Festival, accounting for approximately 12.2% of the national total, a 4.24% increase from the previous year. Of this, the cumulative number of people traveling by road is estimated to be around 10.87 billion, a 4.05% increase from last year. It is predicted that the total number of vehicles traveling on highways in the province will be around 3.07 billion, a 3.09% increase from the previous year. The peak traffic is expected to occur on February 7th before the holiday, with around 8.83 million vehicles, and on February 23rd after the holiday, with around 8.61 million vehicles.
