Release of the results of the third genetic evaluation of Chinese dairy sires in 2025.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the National Livestock and Poultry Genetic Evaluation Center recently released the results of the third genetic evaluation of Chinese dairy bulls in 2025, recommending excellent dairy bulls and guiding breeding farms to scientifically select and purchase high-quality frozen semen. Since the implementation of the revitalization action in the seed industry, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs has organized the implementation of a new round of national dairy cattle genetic improvement plan, conducted registration of breeding bulls, performance testing, and genetic evaluation, and improved performance indices adapted to the breeding of dairy cattle in China, including milk production performance, body size, and health. They comprehensively assess the performance of breeding bulls and genetic breeding progress, timely release information on excellent breeding bulls, promote genetic exchange, continuously improve the quality of frozen semen and breeding level. In the next step, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs will further optimize the performance indices of Chinese dairy cattle and the genomic performance indices of Chinese dairy cattle, add traits such as reproduction, calving, and productive lifespan, comprehensively evaluate the breeding value of dairy cattle, increase the frequency of national genetic evaluation of breeding bulls, promptly announce genetic evaluation results, organize various levels of technical extension departments to strengthen training and guidance for breeding bull stations and breeding farms, guide breeding farms to scientifically select and match breeds, promote cost reduction and efficiency improvement in the dairy industry, and enhance comprehensive benefits.
