"Suzhou '15th Five-Year Plan' proposes: promote the research and demonstration of Suzhou civil transport airport."
On January 21, the Suzhou Municipal Committee released the full text of the "Proposal" for the formulation of the local fifteenth five-year plan. In the section on "Accelerating the construction of a modern infrastructure system," it once again proposed to "promote the research and demonstration of a civilian airport in Suzhou." Suzhou is located in the densely populated and economically developed Yangtze River Delta region, surrounded by more than 20 established airports such as Shanghai Hongqiao, Shanghai Pudong, Nanjing Lukou, Hangzhou Xiaoshan, and Hefei Xinqiao. Despite being a mega-city with a GDP of nearly 3 trillion yuan and a population of over 10 million, Suzhou is only "surrounded" by airports, with the Shuofang Airport jointly built with Wuxi located within the jurisdiction of Wuxi.
