Recently, due to factors such as the incorrect remarks made by Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae, the number of Chinese tourists visiting Japan has significantly decreased, and it has also impacted the retail industry in Japan. The latest data released by four large department stores in Japan at the beginning of January showed that the tax-free sales in December 2025 all declined compared to the previous month, with some companies experiencing a sales decrease of up to 40% for Chinese tourists.
