In the first 11 months of last year, prosecutors brought charges against 380 people for securities crimes such as insider trading and market manipulation.
On January 19, the National Chief Procurators' Conference was held in Beijing to report on the work of the procuratorates in 2025. It was learned during the meeting that the procuratorates, along with the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission, are lawfully regulating the illegal activities of intermediaries in the financial sector. They are also coordinating efforts to crack down on illegal fundraising activities. From January to November 2025, the procuratorates have prosecuted 22,000 individuals involved in financial fraud and disrupting financial management order. The Supreme People's Procuratorate stated that the procuratorates are serving the high-quality development of the financial sector. The Supreme People's Procuratorate, in collaboration with the China Securities Regulatory Commission, is strengthening the legal construction of the capital market. Through the securities procuratorate system, they have prosecuted 380 individuals involved in financial fraud, insider trading, and market manipulation from January to November 2025. They are also vigorously promoting anti-money laundering efforts and have prosecuted 2,684 individuals involved in money laundering crimes. Additionally, they are strictly punishing tax-related crimes and have prosecuted 12,000 individuals involved in tax evasion. They have deployed a special operation to regulate tax-related issues in the retail oil industry in cooperation with the State Administration of Taxation. They are also working closely with the China Coast Guard to combat maritime smuggling crimes, including strategic mineral smuggling exports, and have prosecuted 8,972 individuals involved in smuggling crimes.
