During their stay in the cooperative area, residents of Macau can be considered in the calculation of the days spent in Macau.
The Macau SAR Executive Council has completed the discussion on the draft laws to amend the "Social Security System Law (No. 4/2010)" and the "Non-Mandatory Central Provident Fund System Law (No. 7/2017)", and the relevant bills will be submitted to the Legislative Council for deliberation. The Executive Council held a press conference today, during which the spokesman and Secretary for Administration and Justice Huang Shaoze introduced that in order to facilitate Macau residents to live and work in the Guangdong-Macao Deep Cooperation Zone, the SAR Government currently approves Macau residents to reside in the cooperation zone, work or study in locally recognized higher or non-higher education courses through the approval criteria of "humane or other appropriate justifications" in exceptional individual cases, and can be counted as days in Macau for the purpose of the dual social security policy. In order to further safeguard the dual social security rights of Macau residents in the cooperation zone and implement relevant policies institutionally, the SAR Government has formulated this bill.
