Commonwealth Bank of Australia: Trump's threat to impose tariffs on Europe over Greenland issue sparks risk-off sentiment
Sally Auld of the Commonwealth Bank of Australia commented that the tariff threat issued by President Trump of the United States against Europe regarding Greenland is causing a risk-averse tone. Over the weekend, Trump stated that he will impose a 10% tariff on goods imported from eight European countries starting next month, in order to increase pressure on Denmark to sell Greenland to the United States. "This latest development is likely to further delay efforts by the European Parliament to vote on the US-EU trade agreement reached last year," the group's chief economist said.
