Five departments: support the conduct of green electricity and green certificate trading, further increase the proportion of green power consumption.
The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and five other departments have issued guidelines on the construction of zero-carbon factories. The guidelines propose carrying out carbon offsetting and information disclosure to achieve zero carbon emissions and continuous improvement. After factories have completed sufficient independent emission reductions and reached the maximum reduction possible, the remaining carbon dioxide emissions can be offset through cross-border carbon trading and other methods to achieve and maintain close to zero emissions of carbon dioxide at the factory. Support will be provided for green electricity and green certificate trading to further increase the proportion of green electricity consumption. Factories are encouraged to regularly publish sustainable development reports, environmental, social, and corporate governance reports, zero-carbon factory construction reports, etc., publicly disclosing information on carbon emissions, product carbon footprints, and zero-carbon factory construction progress, confirming the expected effects and performance of zero-carbon factories and continuously improving them.
