No soliciting elderly people's property. The Ministry of Civil Affairs releases professional ethics code for employees of elderly care institutions.
In order to strengthen the professional ethics construction of employees in elderly care institutions, enhance their sense of professional identity and honor, the Ministry of Civil Affairs today released the "Code of Professional Ethics for Employees in Elderly Care Institutions." The "Code" includes eight aspects such as abiding by rules and regulations, putting people first, respecting equality, loving their work, promoting cooperation, providing safe services, being honest and trustworthy, and maintaining integrity. In the aspect of respecting privacy, it is required that employees in elderly care institutions respect the privacy of the elderly, keep personal information, electronic data, medical history, family situations, and other information obtained during service confidential, and refrain from discussing or spreading it casually. Additionally, in terms of integrity, employees in elderly care institutions are not allowed to solicit or accept money or goods from the elderly and their representatives in any way, are not allowed to seek illegitimate benefits through their work, are not allowed to promote health products or drugs to the elderly, and are not allowed to provide convenience for related enterprises or individuals to promote their products. The Code is applicable to employees providing life care, medical nursing, rehabilitation, health care, social work, administrative management, etc. within elderly care institutions. The Ministry of Civil Affairs requires that elderly care institutions strengthen education and guidance for new and existing employees, incorporate training on the "Code" into business training, pre-employment training, and training for promotion, regularly conduct professional ethics education for employees, use the implementation of professional ethics by employees as a factor in performance evaluations, job title promotions, and award selection, establish a sound mechanism for humanistic care and psychological support, care for the physical and mental health of employees, promptly relieve stress, and create a respectful, supportive, and united environment.
