Interpretation of Article 292 of the Criminal Procedure Law of the People's Republic of China by the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress In accordance with the relevant provisions of the Legislation Law of the People's Republic of China and the needs of judicial practice, the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress has discussed the meaning of the provisions regarding the delivery method of legal documents in absentia trial procedures under Article 292 of the Criminal Procedure Law of the People's Republic of China. The interpretation is as follows: The "other methods permitted by the law of the location where the defendant is located" as stipulated in Article 292 of the Criminal Procedure Law of the People's Republic of China refers to various delivery methods prescribed, recognized, accepted, and acknowledged by the laws, precedents, customs, and judicial practices of the location where the defendant is located. These methods include but are not limited to mailing, public notice, public announcement, electronic delivery, and others. This interpretation is hereby announced.
