Cui Dongshu: Imported cars in China decreased by 30% to 450,000 vehicles from January to November 2025.

Cui Dongshu, Secretary-General of the China Automobile Dealers Association, stated in an article that the pressure of continued sharp decline in imported cars is evident. From January to November 2025, there were 450,000 imported cars, a 30% decrease compared to the same period last year, which is a significant decline rarely seen in recent years. In November, there were 43,000 imported cars, a 29% decrease year-on-year and a 2% decrease from October. After reaching a peak of 1.43 million imported cars in 2014, the import volume has been steadily decreasing, with only 700,000 cars imported in 2024, a 12% decrease year-on-year. The top 10 countries with the highest imports from January to November 2025 are: Japan with 192,982 cars, Germany with 179,289 cars, the United States with 99,945 cars, Slovakia with 59,783 cars, the United Kingdom with 42,351 cars, Sweden with 19,943 cars, Austria with 10,213 cars, Hungary with 7,633 cars, Mexico with 6,749 cars, and South Korea with 4,520 cars. The top five countries that had a significant increase in imports compared to the same period last year are: Germany with 83,081 cars, the United States with 55,883 cars, Slovakia with 10,837 cars, Austria with 7,624 cars, and Sweden with 6,994 cars.
