Taiwan's public opinion organization has passed the impeachment proposal against Lai Ching-teh, and a public hearing will be held in January next year.
On December 26th, the political parties of the Kuomintang and the Taiwan People's Party in Taiwan submitted an impeachment motion against Taiwan's leader, Lai Ching-te. The Kuomintang and the Taiwan People's Party have the majority of seats, and the impeachment proposal was passed in a vote by the Taiwan political institution. According to the schedule, public hearings will be held on January 14th and 15th, 2026, and Lai Ching-te will be requested to explain and answer questions at the Taiwan political institution on January 21st, 22nd, as well as May 13th and 14th. On May 19th, there will be a named vote on the impeachment case at the Taiwan political institution.
