On December 26th, the Drewry World Container Freight Rate Index rose by 1% this week to reach $2213/FEU, achieving its fourth consecutive increase. The spot freight rates on the Asia-Europe route have been on an upward trend for four weeks in a row. Data from the past three years shows that the cargo volume on this route records double-digit month-on-month growth in December each year, making strong year-end cargo volume the "new normal." Currently, as shipping companies have started accepting early bookings for before the Lunar New Year in February 2026, Drewry predicts that freight rates are expected to continue to slightly increase next week.
