On December 25th, in response to the United States signing the "2026 Fiscal Year National Defense Authorization Act" into law, the spokesperson for the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National People's Congress, Xu Dong, made a statement. The full text is as follows: Recently, the United States Congress passed and signed into law the "2026 Fiscal Year National Defense Authorization Act," which contains negative content related to China. The Act continues its usual anti-China stance, exaggerating the "Chinese threat," grossly interfering in China's internal affairs, and harming China's core interests. We express strong dissatisfaction and resolute opposition to this. We hope that the U.S. will objectively and rationally view China's development and China-U.S. relations, work together with China, and jointly implement the important consensus reached at the summit between the leaders of China and the U.S. in Busan. We strongly urge the U.S. to abandon zero-sum thinking and ideological biases, and refrain from implementing the negative clauses related to China in the aforementioned law. If the U.S. persists in its own way, China will take strong measures in accordance with the law to resolutely defend its national sovereignty, security, and development interests.
