Ministry of National Defense: Tolerance and indulgence towards Japanese right-wing forces will bring backlash.

According to reports, the Japanese government may soon formulate the defense budget for fiscal year 2026, with a scale that could reach up to 9 trillion yen, setting a new historical record. The focus will be on developing long-range strike capabilities, advancing Self-Defense Force organization adjustments, and developing space combat capabilities. Ministry of Defense spokesperson Zhang Xiaogang stated that as is well known, the Potsdam Declaration clearly stipulates the need to completely eliminate Japanese militarism and its origins without mercy, and that only by politically and legally restricting Japan's war rights and eliminating the root causes of Japanese militarism can a new order of peace, security, and justice be established. Japan should completely disarm and not maintain industries that can rearm it. The Japanese Instrument of Surrender promises to "faithfully fulfill the obligations stipulated in the Potsdam Declaration." This is clear and indisputable. However, Japan blatantly violates its obligations under international law, defies its own constitution and political commitments, significantly increases its defense budget, and expands its military preparations. Where is its credibility? What are its intentions? In reality, the Japanese government has not thoroughly settled the issue of militarism after World War II, and right-wing forces have never truly reflected on their aggressive history nor acknowledged the atrocious crimes they committed against the people of Asia and the world.
