Honduras National Electoral Council: Nasralla elected as the new president.

The National Electoral Commission of Honduras announced on the 24th the election results, declaring Nasry Asfura, candidate of the National Party, as the new President of the country. The announcement states that the vote count results show Asfura received 40.27% of the votes, Salvador Nasralla, candidate of the Freedom Party, received 39.53% of the votes, and Xiomara Castro, candidate of the ruling Freedom and Reconstruction Party, received 19.19% of the votes. The other two candidates received less than 1% of the votes. The new president is scheduled to take office on January 27th next year. The presidential, parliamentary, and local elections in Honduras were held on November 30th, with the preliminary results originally set to be announced that evening, but were delayed due to reported technical issues with the vote counting system.
