AI forecasts global weather, meteorological artificial intelligence scientific model "Wind Source" released.

Today, the China Meteorological Administration announced the release of the meteorological artificial intelligence scientific model "Fengyuan" in the Xiong'an New Area of Hebei Province. This model will enhance the ability of artificial intelligence meteorological forecasting models and scientific research by providing an open-source scientific innovation platform. "Fengyuan" represents China's meteorological department obtaining an end-to-end scientific model with independent intellectual property rights, achieving technical independence and controllability in key areas, and providing the engineering foundation for continuous iteration and evolution. The core capability of "Fengyuan" V1.0 includes data assimilation and forecasting modules, enabling global meteorological forecasting based on observational data. Looking ahead, "Fengyuan" will focus on utilizing artificial intelligence to improve the ability to capture extreme weather, particularly short-term imminent weather events. It will focus on scenarios such as low-altitude economy, energy supply security, transportation logistics, and health meteorology to develop specialized meteorological artificial intelligence models to better serve economic and social development. It will also expand internationally, promote the application of meteorological artificial intelligence achievements in countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative, and leverage the innovative collaboration of the meteorological science and education fusion alliance to strengthen communication and collaboration among key artificial intelligence innovation teams.
