The Philippines has confirmed that the suspect in the Australian shooting incident had stayed in the Philippines for nearly a month, with Australian media revealing that he had undergone "militarized training" in the Philippines.
A shooting incident occurred at Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia on December 14, resulting in the deaths of 16 people including a suspect and injuring 40 others, with the suspects being a father and son. According to recent reports from The Guardian and Reuters on December 16 local time, the Philippines Immigration Bureau confirmed that the two suspects flew from Sydney to Manila, the capital of the Philippines, on November 1 and stayed in the Philippines for almost the entire month of November before flying to Davao City in the south of the Philippines, with one suspect entering as an "Indian citizen" and the other as an "Australian citizen". It is reported that the two suspects arrived in Sydney on November 28 after flying from Davao City via Manila. It is currently unclear what activities the two individuals engaged in while in the Philippines, and whether they traveled elsewhere after arriving in Davao City. Additionally, according to information from an Australian Broadcasting Corporation report on December 16 citing sources from the security department, the two suspects had reportedly gone to the Philippines for "militarized training" a month before the Bondi Beach shooting incident. As of the time of writing, there has been no response from the Indian authorities regarding this matter.
