The appointed Zaporizhzhia region administrator Balitsky said on the 13th local time that in the early hours of the day, two external power lines were simultaneously disconnected, causing the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant to lose external power supply. Meanwhile, the backup diesel generator automatically started, all systems were operating normally, and no incidents affecting the safe operation of the nuclear power plant were recorded. Balitsky stated that currently, the external power supply of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant has been fully restored. The backup diesel generator has switched to standby mode, all safety systems are operating normally, and the radiation levels are within the normal range. Relevant authorities are investigating the cause of the disconnection of the external power lines.
