National Healthcare Security Administration: continue to promote national alliance procurement of traditional Chinese medicine and Chinese herbal medicine slices.

On December 13, 2025, the National Medical Security Work Conference was held in Beijing. The conference called for leveraging the strategic purchasing role of medical insurance in 2026 to support innovation and development in the pharmaceutical industry. It also emphasized guiding the pharmaceutical industry to engage in healthy competition and differentiated innovation. The conference stressed the importance of implementing the "Several Measures to Support the High-Quality Development of Innovative Drugs" and increasing the payment capacity for innovative drugs. It also highlighted the need to conduct new rounds of national centralized drug procurement and high-value medical consumables procurement. The conference also underscored the ongoing efforts to promote nationwide alliance purchases of traditional Chinese medicine and traditional Chinese medicinal pieces. It aimed to achieve direct settlement of selected drugs and consumables through national centralized procurement and to gradually expand to other products, improving the efficiency of enterprise payments. Furthermore, the conference emphasized the importance of utilizing the multiple pricing discovery function of the Chinese drug price registration system to support the internationalization of the Chinese pharmaceutical industry.
