"Data Security Technology Electronic Product Information Clearing Technology Requirements" mandatory national standard approved for publication.

On December 2nd, the Cyberspace Administration of China proposed and centralized the mandatory national standard "Data Security Technology and Electronic Product Information Clearing Technology Requirements," which was approved and released by the State Administration for Market Regulation and the National Standardization Management Committee, and will officially take effect on January 1, 2027. With the rapid development of the digital economy, the frequency of updates and replacements of electronic products such as mobile phones and computers has accelerated, leading to an increasingly large volume of second-hand electronic products in circulation. However, in the circulation process, the risk of data leakage caused by incomplete information clearing is becoming more and more prominent, directly affecting social public interests and personal information security. In order to implement the "Action Plan to Promote Large-scale Equipment Updates and Exchange of Old for New Consumer Goods" issued by the State Council, which includes relevant requirements for the establishment of national standards for information clearing methods for second-hand transactions of electronic products such as mobile phones and tablets, the Cyberspace Administration of China proposed and entrusted the National Cybersecurity Standardization Technical Committee to develop this standard, aiming to standardize electronic product information clearing technology methods, guide recycling operators to establish sound information clearing management and technical measures, and prevent the risk of data leakage in second-hand circulation.
