Argentina strongly condemns British companies planning to develop oil fields in the Falkland Islands.

The Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement on the 11th condemning the so-called "final investment decision" of the British company Rockhopper Exploration and the Israeli-based company Navitas Petroleum Limited. This decision aims to develop the Sea Lion oil field located in the waters of the Falkland Islands. At the end of 2021, Navitas Petroleum Limited and Rockhopper Exploration reached an agreement to acquire approximately 65% of the shares in the Sea Lion oil field project, and officially became the operator of the oil field in 2022.
