The Thai King approves the dissolution of the lower house of parliament.
The Thai government's official gazette website announced in the early hours of the 12th that King Maha Vajiralongkorn has approved the dissolution of the lower house of parliament to hold a new national election. According to the royal decree, Prime Minister Prayut stated that the current government, which is a minority government composed of multiple political parties, is facing various uncertainties in the economy, society, politics, international relations, and global geopolitics, as well as instability on the Thai-Cambodian border. The political situation in Thailand is facing significant difficulties, making it impossible for the government to continue to operate the country effectively and stably. Therefore, the appropriate solution is to dissolve the lower house of parliament and hold a new election. The decree states that King Maha Vajiralongkorn has approved Prime Minister Prayut's request, and the dissolution of the lower house of parliament will take effect upon the announcement of the decree. The date for the lower house elections will be announced separately by the election commission, but must fall within 45 to 60 days after the decree takes effect.
