Meta has decided to postpone the release of the new generation of MR glasses "Phoenix" from the originally scheduled second half of 2026 to the first half of 2027. Vice President Mach Sabah of Reality Labs Foundation confirmed this adjustment in an internal memo to employees on Thursday. In another memo, Metaverse heads Gabriel Orr and Ryan Keynes said that delaying the release will give us more space to refine the details. They emphasized, "The core user experience will undergo significant changes, and we will not compromise on a perfect and reliable experience." Meta declined to comment on this. In addition to "Phoenix," Sabah also revealed that Meta plans to launch a limited edition wearable device called "Malibu 2" in 2026. Furthermore, the company is working on developing the next generation of Quest devices. Orr and Keynes said that this product will focus on immersive gaming experiences, achieve significant performance upgrades, and significantly improve unit economics.
