On December 5th, China Telecom announced the first cross-border hollow-core optical fiber and ultra-low latency commercial transmission system at the 2025 Smart Technology Ecosystem Conference. Latency is the core productivity in the AI era. In order to meet the needs of financial and intelligent computing sensitive business requirements, China Telecom has built the world's first cross-border commercial hollow-core optical fiber between Dongguan-Shenzhen-Hong Kong, with a total length of 110 kilometers. By optimizing the physical routing of the fiber cable, overcoming the difficulties of long-distance deployment and maintenance of hollow-core optical fiber, breaking the physical limits of traditional optical fibers, the speed of optical signal transmission has been increased by 30%, and the equipment processing delay has been reduced by over 40%. China Telecom has led the industry in reducing the latency of transactions between Guangdong and Hong Kong to less than 1ms, laying a solid foundation for efficient collaboration in all-optical intelligent networks.
