Kevin Hassett, Director of the White House National Economic Council and seen as the frontrunner for the Federal Reserve Chairmanship, stated that he would be disappointed if the economic growth rate for the first and second quarters of 2026 is only 3%. "If it's 3, I'll be disappointed. It would be easy for it to be one percentage point higher," Hassett said on Fox Business Channel. He said that as long as there are no "random black swan" events, he expects 2026 to be "one of the golden years in American economic history."
