At the 2025 TSMC OIP Ecosystem Forum held today, Dr. Lui Lizhong, Academician/Deputy General Manager of Design and Technology Platform at TSMC, stated that the power consumption of AI is increasing exponentially, and energy efficiency is a key factor in whether AI can be popularized. "The development of TSMC's N14 technology is progressing very smoothly, while also continuously strengthening existing N3 and N5 technologies. From N7 to N14, the speed increases by 1.8 times at the same power consumption, while energy efficiency increases by 4.2 times. Each new technology node at TSMC reduces power consumption by about 30% compared to the previous node."
