The latest development in TSMC's 2-nanometer process leak case.
According to the news website FTNN in Taiwan on December 2nd, TSMC was involved in a case of secret technology leakage in July of this year. A former engineer, Chen Liming, colluded with two engineers, Ge Yiping and Wu Bingjun, at TSMC's Hsinchu plant, suspected of stealing 2-nanometer process technology secrets and leaking them to a competitor. One of the two current employees resigned after the incident, while the other was dismissed, and all three were handed over to the authorities for prosecution. The Taiwan "High Prosecutors Office" concluded its investigation on the 2nd, and, based on the "National Security Law" and "Trade Secrets Law," added charges against the Japanese company Tokyo Electronics, seeking a total of 120 million New Taiwan Dollars in fines. It was reported that Chen Liming had previously worked for Tokyo Electronics, a major semiconductor company in Japan, at their subsidiary in Taiwan.
